The Asian Center in Paris is organising this conference on Friday 23th March, which I’ll try to attend to tomorrow.

As I worked on this country and my education background is caracterised by international relations, I think this seminar could give me a better idea of India’s role worldwide.

 

It’s not a secret that India is quickly becoming one of the most competitive countries in the world. So, let’s keep an eye on this wunderful culture and very interesting economic & commecial strategies and development.

 

Summary of Shashi Tharoor’s biography:

 Né à Londres, éduqué à Bombay, Calcutta et Delhi,et titulaire d’un doctorat de la Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Shashi Tharoor a commencé sa carrière de diplomate au Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies aux Réfugiés. Il a eu à traiter d’opérations de maintien de la paix en ex-Yougoslavie, a été assistant du Secrétaire général des Nations Unies, puis, jusqu’en 2007, secrétaire général adjoint des Nations Unies chargé de l’information et de la communication. Auteurs d’essais consacrés à la politique étrangère et à l’Inde, il est aussi chroniqueur dans la presse indienne et dans la presse internationale. Romancier, il a reçu entre autres le prix du Commonwealth. Ses romans, dont Le grand roman indien  et L’émeute, sont traduits en français aux Editions du Seuil, qui viennent de publier son essai L’Inde, d’un millénaire à l’autre, 1947-2007. Export Meeting in Paris – 20th March 07

Thanks to one of my colleagues I worked with during the Indo-French Business Meet 06, Françoise Piedanna, Chamber of Commerce of Val-de-Marne (South suburb of Paris), I was informed about this meeting aimed at informing enterprises about the different financial & practical mesures that are offered to them in France and particulary in the region.This seminar called ‘Rencontres Export 94′ was very interesting to me, as it dealt with the measures giving French enterprises the possibility to employ a V.I.E (International profiled graduate aged 18-28), representing a real financial gain for them.

In the second part of the seminar, three persons from Germany (Frédéric Berner from Franco-german Chamber of Commerce in Germay), China and UK (Jane Kassis Henderson from ESCP-EAP) underlined the importance of “intercultural communication”, agreeing that not only the good quality of the firm’s product is important, but also the good quality of the dialogue for a good relationship with the partner, which is not always easy due to clichés and the bad cultural knowledge we have from foreign countries & mentalities..

I really agree on this point, and hope enterprisers will become more aware of this dimension in their relationships. It often happens that a contract wouldn’t be signed because of misunderstandings…I believe that managers should receive a training in this fields!

Moreover, this demonstration shows that multicultural teams are essential to work on an international scale.
